Ryan Rajkumarsingh has been selected by Deputy Governor Franz Manderson as the Cayman Islands Government Employee of the Month for September.

At the presentation last Tuesday (30 October), in the Department of Commerce and Investment (DCI) Conference Room, Mr Manderson described his choice as being an innovative leader who combines different leadership styles to achieve the best results.

Most notably, the DCI recently introduced an online service for clients to apply and pay for new trade and business licences, as well as licence renewals. This service allows 24-hour submissions of most application types and saves client time.

"Ryan, your team has creatively utilised technology to deliver excellent customer service, thereby improving the standard of services provided by DCI. By doing this you’ve recognised the importance that local businesses play in promoting a strong economy," Mr Manderson said.

This new online service alleviates lines because people can access it at anytime from anywhere. "This is expected to reduce waiting times for our customers and improve efficiencies within the Department," Mr Manderson added.

"Thank you for demonstrating such a remarkable level of performance and commitment to the Cayman Islands Government," he said.

Ministry of Commerce, Planning & Infrastructure Chief Officer Alan Jones noted that Mr Rajkumarsingh was nominated by his team. But not only that, he was the first department head to receive an Employee of the Month award since the inception of the Deputy Governor’s Awards Programme in 2012.

Mr Jones praised Mr Rajkumarsingh for being a strong, innovative leader who believes in challenging his employees.

"Known for his exceptional leadership and a shared vision for DCl’s future that aligns with the Deputy Governor’s goal to be a ‘World-Class Civil Service,’ Ryan has made a commitment to focus on developing exceptional leaders through job enrichment."

Mr Jones further explained: "He does this by meeting with each member of his team to discuss their learning path, and identifying a competency they wish to develop. His commitment to support and provide formal training and other resources for staff to achieve success is just one of many ways Ryan continues to demonstrate and fulfill his commitment to developing world-class leaders within the service."
